hei
on the loopa is the newest firmware…

i opened mios studio
typed “help”, found following entry:
[ 777.883] msd <on|off>: enables Mass Storage Device driver

then i typed “msd on”
i fot following message “[ 825.524] Mass Storage Device Mode activated - USB MIDI will be disabled!!!”

then i typed “help” again - and nothing happens >aka USB-Midi is disabled > fine.

but no Mass storage pops up for real - not in windows 10 nor in Minux-Lint.

Also when i remove the SD-Card and move it in the Slot again with my hands - did not force the loopa to make that.

how to get access to the card - without removing it from the looper?

— i modified also the masstorage device example app from github (i removed the LCD things because loopa used a custom one … so it dont crashes) - but there i also had no luck > no pop up of a new mass storage device on linux or windows.

i think that would also be interested with the standard SEQV4+Rackmounted… there you also have to unscrew the device to get to the sd-card (so its not only the euro-loopa which is of course a custom one…)

      Hi Mike,

In short: from the software viewpoint i believe it should work for both LoopA and SEQ v4+ as well as for MatriX.

For LoopA and MatriX I used the MSD mode to download screenshots for the documentation work. No console command necessary, just enter the filebrowser mode in MIOS studio.

But i know that windows USB MIDI transfers are not stable (don’t know about Linux), i switched to MacOS a while ago and never looked back… the new M1 machines are powerful and affordable, highly recommended.

      Many greets,
      Peter

Hawkeye download via mios studio off single files work, please try to select all your patches and press download - does it work in your mac, or does it crash mios studio like on my machine (if you have no glue watch my video) - maxim the second euroloops user has a mac - i will ask him too. @short: that means? : sd access is only possible via mios studio? so there is no real mass storage device for filebrowsers (win mac linux). and there doesnt exist a app that can do this (mios32 github) - even when i change something and revompile?

i tried it out now on linux mint, and mios also crashes if i want to download more then one file at once
next is to try it on mac.

Phatline you’re right on both accounts:

        • multi file download will also sometikes crash even on a mac, but i think it is a MIOS Studio issue. Maybe it’s not even an issue, to my best knowledge TK.'s MIOS Studio download function was intented for single file operation only.

        • MSD mode to my best knowledge always “only” worked in conjunction with MIOS Studio - to emulate something like a mountable USB device would be a lot more work.

I’d recommend to make the SD card accessible with an SD card extension cable, these only cost a few Euros and can give easy access to the physical SD card, so you can reach it and perform the backup.

        Many greets,
        Peter

when doing that, i got a greater cable length: which could end up by read/write errors, or the card is not recognizeds (as expirience)

well then i have too look if i find something in generic for the stm32f4 - a problem there could be that we use the miosbootloader… ill keep you updatet if i found a way for a real-cardreader (aka project.hex cardreader)

          Alright!

As another idea, you could also directly solder a (short) extension cable to the SD card solder points on the LoopA core - then the cable length would not be too long - and break out the SD card with a custom 2HP SD card panel.

But in general, that’s why we made the SD card easily accessible on the cased LoopAs and would recommended something similar for a modular LoopA approach as well.

Maybe you’ve played that game back in the days: Leisure Suit Larry always said “Save early, save often!” - it was true then in the 90ties and it is true now, i’d recommend to frequently backup all songs/sessions, because SD cards might fail at any moment - if you’re going to live gigs with prepared sessions, i’d recommend to take two cards with the identical file structure just to be safe.

Best regards and have a good evening!
          Peter
