JayBeee Hi JayBeee and welcome to the forums!
LoopA uses an “enhanced BLM” protocol, that is only available in MatriX - it took nearly a year to code it with the goal of it being truly responsive and a joy to use - MatriX also offers extra UI elements like the analog joystick, more analog sliders and the full-RGB OLED to improve navigation within a LoopA clip.
To explain: the original BLM protocol is an “immediate” action-response architecture, where every button press is sent from SEQ v4+ to BLM or Lemur/BLM and vice versa. It is a stateless protocol, that performs full updates and that works nicely with SEQ v4+.
But within LoopA, we have non-quantized note events and thus have a big clip area that needs scrolling and zooming for optimal use. Thus, MatriX and LoopA implement a “stateful” protocol, i.e. MatriX knows a lot about LoopA’s clips and notes events - this is the only way to achieve smooth (around 60fps) scrolling and editing LoopA clips using MatriX. The Lemur template unfortunately cannot support that.
Hope you’ll enjoy your LoopA and maybe enhance it with a MatriX later on.
Best regards,
Peter
