How could I change the global BPM tempo

Hi there, I have the Midibox SEQ V4+ .096 for a while but need some help to change the global BPM input.
I have an older device (SEQ V4. 094b) that shows the given (e.g.) 130 bpm by Ableton live correctly but the first device gives be the info when looking at the BPM INFO when using the EXIT button that there comes 260 bpm in.
Can somebody gives me an advise for reducing it to 130 ?

If i understood it correctly, you are getting an external MIDI clock (i.e. from Ableton Live).
If you have exactly twice the BPM as expected, it is very likely, that you have configured more than one MCLK IN MIDI device, i.e. SEQ v4+ is receiving parallel MIDI clock packets on multiple ports, which leads to the doubled clock.

To test this out, i’d suggest to remove MIDI (or USB cables) one at a time to see when the clock drops back to the expected normal speed - using this method, you can easily find the device that sends the additional clock and disable it there. Alternatively you can disable the affected MIDI Clock input port on SEQ v4+ (filter clock on the second port), but to reduce general MIDI traffic, it might make sense to not send the second MIDI clock in the first place.

PS: The simplest case would be if your SEQ v4+ is connected to Ableton Live just via a single USB cable - in this case, make sure that Live is sending MIDI clock only on one of the four virtual SEQ v4+ USB interfaces.

And this is my question:
If I created a track of more than 16 steps and I want to change all notes simultaneously I use the ALL function but the changes will only have an effect for the 16 steps actual. On my second “older” device it works anyhow but is there a global way to change that? If I use “EXIT” and than “Step select” it is shown “Select the step which should be be controlled by the ALL function” but there are shown only 16 “*”
Is there a way to select more than the 16 steps?
Perhaps a global function?

no problem, it should still be possible with the newest firmware, just tested it over here.

First, make sure you are in the normal step view mode for this (not 303 view or similar).
Then, press “ALL” and using the upper general purpose keys select all steps (they should blink in green). This is your selection pattern, marking all steps to be modified.

Then, the trick is to turn the encoder of the currently selected step (marked with the “> … <” cursor, which you can move with your jog wheel). Then all note values, also outside the visible page should be modified. If you turn any other encoder, only the notes between the encoder you turned and the selected step will be modified (“range adjustment”).

There’s another trick: that is if you push and hold the ALL key while turning the encoder of the selected step, then all steps will be set to the same value, otherwise you’d change the step values relative to their previous value.

Hello Peter,
thank you for the advise. Well I tried what you suggested but it doesn’t work, only the 16 visable steps will change.
Is it because I have the Firmware V4+.96 ?
And if I have to update the firmware whow to do that? Is there a manual to be downloaded?
The latest manual I have is quiet old “midibox_seq_v4_beginner_s_guide” and surly not actual.
I don’t want to waiste your time, perhaps you have a link where I can get hints step by step how to get up to date.

PS: what is astonishing, my older Midibox SEQ V4.094b worked that way, means that all steps will change when I push and hold the ALL key. I even don’t have to hold it, just choosing the ALL function will change all notes.
But anyhow perhaps an upgrade to the latest firmware would be recommendable. (?)

First of all: you are up-to-date, 4.096+ is about as modern as it gets, 4.097 did only change minor things, an upgrade will not change the behaviour of the ALL function.

Regarding the “ALL” feature - did you try to turn the encoder of the currently selected step? (Not pushing and holding the ALL button?)

Yes, I did. Step 1 is selected AND I change the encoder of step 1.

Besides that, I use midi cable instaed USB, perhabs this is relevant?
I don’t think so because it has nothing to do with the connection to the DAW

Found it! 🙂 - make sure you set the option “All function works in step view only” to “disabled”:

This makes sure that ALL modifies all steps, also those outside of the current 16-step view.
