Matrix: SEQ V4+ VS LoopA features

Hi All,

Happy New Year!

As a SEQ V4+ owner, I’m watching the features video for (and lusting over) the Matrix and am wondering: are there functions exclusive to the LoopA? If yes which are they? I ask because Hawkeye keeps mentioning the LoopA in the video.

Yes, the MatriX implementation is different depending on what you have connected. In short:
SEQ v4+: grid editing modes, also per track/303, or select a pattern, basic keyboard mode with velocity on the y axis, sliders can be assigned to CC
LoopA: note editing with pan and zoom, note entry with length and velocity, macro screen with single-key shortcuts, track volume etc., flexible isomorphic keyboard with adaptable row interval), force-to-scale selection page etc.

Looks good. I guess it would be fair to say the MatriX has a “deeper integration” with the LoopA than with the SEQ v4+, which is understandable since they are very different beasts. Zooming and moving around the patterns really is very sexy I must say, also the force to scale keyboard and such, but I understand it isn’t what you get with the SEQ v4+, obviously.

I need to think this through. 😀 This device looks amazing.

And of course only now do I see the discussion in the MatriX suggestions thread, which has all the info I need about the why and how of the differences between LoopA and SEQ implementations. 😄

Right, we have more control over the LoopA codebase, so can do a bit more in that regard. It’s still really cool for SEQ though, it just depends on what fits best with your sequencing needs and goals.
