Can we replace SN74HC595DR with MC74HC595ADR2G?

Curious if anyone has tried the MC74HC595ADR2G shift registers?
Looks like TI is obsoleting the ones in the BOM.
Here are the data sheets for comparison.

Looks like TI is obsoleting the ones in the BOM.

According to Mouser, thousands will be delivered in July, that’s not so bad!

The narrow (normal) SOIC package has the “D” suffix. The rest is related to the packaging (e.g. tubes or reels) or sometimes surface finish, which are normally inconsequential for DIY hand soldering.
The part Peter linked looks to be fine, all info in the datasheet matches.

How so? It is still 74HC logic and a 595 part, so should be equivalent. Or are you referring to the MC- part? Please post an excerpt of what you found or a picture that shows the differences.

Right, despite what Peter says 😀 the parametric search is only as smart as the person (or machine?) that configured it. In this case the DRG4 part will be equivalent; the datasheet has the final say.
