Buttons stopped working

Due to falling off my music stand ;( Faders, joystick, and all mechanical grid switches work fine but the 6 menu switches around the joystick are completely unresponsive both in the test screen and when connected to Loopa.LEDs do not light up either.
Falling damage didn’t appear to damage the switches themselves, and the fact they are all not working makes me think it’s something else on the board rather than the switches.
I do not see anything obviously wrong upon inspection of the axes board, though.
The metal case was a lifesaver! Like a tank. I did identify two more ePixels to fix though so not all bad. While I have it apart I will probably order some new ePixels from your shop to replace the dim ones, anyway.

Ouch! Hope that it mostly survived!
If the sliders work, it suggests that CON1 is connected and the 3v3 supplies the ADC.
Perhaps the MOW10 cable has disconnected, either from axes or the neo85? The buttons and LEDs on this board would run from that cable.
You should also be able to measure +5V between the “southern most” pins of CON1 or on J89A

Thank you for the ideas, I’ll double check the cables and measure that voltage.
The rest of the unit is fine, the case is very heavy duty 😃

Checking the suggested voltages reveal they are correct. What about J89? That’s the one with the connector…should the voltages be the same as J89A?

Great, so CON1 is fully supplying the board with +5V from the Core regulator.

J89 only extends the shift register chain and doesn’t supply power in the same way. You might be able to put a scope or logic probe on the others to see if anything is coming through. In the picture above, the two left-most should show a pulse or state change that follows a burst of clock data, which are on the next set of two to the right. The middle pins transmit the serial data, with the upper pin for the outputs (= LEDs) and the lower for the inputs (switch activity on this board).

I have a scope and see activity on all pins except the furthest ones to the right, both top and bottom is nothing. I’m not sure if my scope is fast enough I am just seeing the same clock on left 8 pins.

I have continuity between the ones connected below with red lines. That correct?

Correct, the pins are bridged as you drew them. The right-most ones are 0V for both J89 and J89A, but there is no connection for J89 there (0V then doesn’t pass through from neo85).

I believe that you should see a 1ms pulse on the left-most “shift out” pins, with the actual serial clock pulsing much faster than that. The shift out “book-ends” the pulse train from the serial clock.

The ones on the left are 16ms pulse, and it’s the exact same on the other ones that have a clock. I am pretty sure I have the scope setup correctly but I do not use it that often.

Not sure what I did, maybe I bumped it or cleared a short but they are all working again. Super weird but I’m not complaining! Thanks again for your help I appreciate it 🙂
