Hello,

I’m having hard time with these button, after several hours of pushing them.
I was wondering if anybody has a link to smooth cover whose could fit them?

Thanks in advance,
Have a good day,
Rgds,

If you are referring to the MEC switches, an option is to replace the switches and actuators for 5GTH920 and 1LS096-15.0 (documented here).

I did this for my build and I noticed the 1LS096-15.0 Black/Frosted button caps would crack where the black plastic meets the frosted lens. I switched them out for the 1 piece frosted 1IS16-15.0 a few years ago and I have not had any cracks yet. It also looks a little more like the original Midiphy design than the Black/frosted caps.

Well i was more asking about silicone soft cover you can put over the button.
All of those alternative are still plastic +, you have to change the switch!
I have done research, it’s possible, but don’t come in small package and they have to be specially disigned for the button.
There are aliexpress maker which can make those soft silicone button cover but it’s about 1000 of item!

There’s all sorts of things that you could do. The OD of the cap is 6.5mm and it sits about 6.5mm above the panel. There is probably not enough clearance to have the cover go into the panel, unless you want to drill out the panel more.

      • You could simply polish or sand down the edges.
      • You could place heatshrink tube just over the edge to soften the “corner”.
      • You could 3D print something, but if you want a soft clear cover it would probably have to be TPE of which I have no experience.
      • You could try to find “clear sealing boots” of which something might fit.
      • You could try something like this and cut them to size, this might be cheap enough to test out. This is said to be vinyl, not silicone. It might help to soften up the plastic first (warm water could work), though it depends if the ID is ¼″ or 6mm. But if the tube ID is slightly smaller, it could help to hold the cover on.
      • Of course you could also buy something custom made.

        Hello,

No i don’t want to cover all the button at least no more that just at the bottom of them when the panel is put:

Here is something that would do the job, but it need a custom command in order to set the good size in width and the height, as it is also a minimum of set, i think it’s more to your side to decide or not the buy one to make them available as an enhancement!

You can have a plenty of different silicon model, it’s the first i found that i show you!

They won’t require any heavy transformation, just put them onto the plastic one, the height correctly adjusted will not only make the thing more dust free but so more soft to use.

The one you provided are perhaps usable, but the top does not correspond, and it’s definitively not silicon.

        Rgds,

I’ve provided several suggestions; the rest is up to you!

          Good luck!
