Need help - Button 23 shorted

Got an error in test where “button 23 released” is constantly shown. Could someone tell me which one is button 23 so I can find the short. Thanks!

I would have to check on the hardware. My guess is that a 165 register pin or resistor network is floating, so please reflow those joints.

What is the other button behaviour? Do you get button pressed for other keys?

The machine was acutally working for awhile and then went nuts. The other buttons work. But I can’t figure out which one is 23.

Here’s the button mapping for future reference:

EN1: Enc 1 + Button 2
EN2: Enc 0 + Button 3
EN3: Enc 2 + Button 26
EN4: Enc 3 + Button 16

SW1: Button 15
SW2: Button 12
SW3: Button 14
SW4: Button 7
SW5: Button 13
SW6: Button 6
SW7: Button 23
SW8: Button 30
SW9: Button 22
SW10: Button 29
SW11: Button 21
SW12: Button 28
SW13: Button 20

So SW7 goes to JD2, pin 4 and up to the plate PCB
On the plate PCB, the signal connects to RN3, pin 3 and IC3, pin 6.

If you can’t measure +5V on your switch, then probably the RN pin is a cold joint (easy!)
If you do measure +5V on your switch, then probably the SR pin is floating (hard!)

Reflowing IC3 helped fix the button 23 problem, but then button 7 started to do the same thing, so I reflowed IC1 but now no buttons work - so I guess IC1 is dead ? Or is there anything else I need to check.

No buttons = nothing at all or just a few buttons?
Nothing at all = shift register chain is interrupted (boards disconnected??
Just a few buttons, maybe the RN/IC that you worked on?

LEDs and screen works but no buttons att all so I imagine that the shift register chain is interrupted - already ordered new registers so I can repair.

Could be, or just a short between pins or something else missing a solder joint.
