• MatriX
  • Matrix with ucapps MidiBox seq 4

Hello all,

i am new to the game but always wanted a matrix style controller, to see all my instruments espcially for a drum machine in one sight.

32 steps would be the best but 16 is ok as well πŸ™‚

My question is: Do I need a special firmware for me midibox seq v4, it states that it should be compatible, right?
I guess the midiphy seq and the midibox seq do use different firmwares since they have a little bit different functionality and buttons, right?

Thanks for you answers and greetings.

    Hello!

MatriX is really cool to sequence drum instruments! Don’t forget that the extra row button on MatriX for SEQ switches the step view in most modes. So you can even quickly page through 256 steps!

For SEQ usage, I would suggest to use drum tracks (Events) with as many drum instruments as you need. If you still need more (based on the parameter/trigger layer setup), you can always use multiple tracks.

For SEQ v4, @Hawkeye would need to answer, but I think it should work for both a Wilba panel and the midiphy one. The main differences between these are configured by the respective HWCFG file that assigns buttons and LEDs. I think it should have an STM32F4 Core though.

      Thanks for your interest @mex!

MatriX will work nicely with any SEQ v4 - Wilba panel or handmade - as long as it runs a somewhat recent firmware and as long as you have a MIDI IN/OUT pair available to create a BLM port πŸ™‚.

Drums mode is fantastic, but it is very nice also in 303 mode. In this video i’m using the MatriX with four tracks/four different synths in conjunction with my SEQ v4+, but it would work identically on your SEQ v4:

We still have a limited number of MatriCes available in the first batch, including free shipping - when they are sold out i fear the next restock could take a while due to the global component shortage.

      Best regards and enjoy!
      Peter

Just checked for replies, work is keeping me busy πŸ™‚

Thanks for the reply, I thought hawkey = latikid, now I learned you are 2 different persons πŸ™‚

So yes i do have some midiports available, i built a version with actually 4 different midi ports πŸ™‚ as my setup is all midi right now and wants to stay this way.

I am looking forward for the build, of course this will take i guess around 6 month realisticly, lets see how christmas break will work out for me.
