cowboy - an optimal setup (we think) is to combine a LoopA, a SEQ v4+ and a MatriX - this will give you a total of 22 parallel tracks and a graphical UI with a lot of power. Of these 22 tracks, SEQ v4+ brings 16 dedicated step sequencing tracks (with all the SEQ v4+ features) and LoopA brings 6 tracks of (potentially) unquantized LoopA clips to the table.
In a future software version, MatriX will allow to connect two LoopAs at once (the Macro screen is already prepared for that) - so if 12 tracks are good enough for you, i can fully recommend to use two LoopAs.
Even without MatriX you can sync a LoopA to one or more others: syncing a LoopA to a SEQ v4+ or another LoopA works seamlessly via MIDI Clock (there are some Setup/Config items available for both LoopA and SEQ v4+ to set everything up properly).
Best regards,
