How to bring the V4 back to life

Hi, I have a V4 Seq, and I would like to bring it back to life.
I have the case, the Wilba control surface.
Could it be possible to bring it to life with some of your PCBs?

Sorry, they are completely different projects. You would have to start again with a midiphy kit.

Polykobol that was more than two years ago and i only remember we talked a lot, but there was no real conclusion, as it was unclear what was not working in your SEQ v4.

To avoid confusion and to guarantee a working build for you - i fully agree with Andy, we would recommend a new midiphy SEQ v4+ kit for a reliable sequencer - by now older SEQ v4s very often suffer from the problem with bad keys, this is not fun - you would therefore want to upgrade to the newest control surface including the better mechanical keys.

Also you can extend this build easily with eurorack modules for your modular integration and the new MatriX, both were not available back in the day, therefore, now two years later, in my opinion it is nearly a no-brainer 🙂.

I have 2 sets of Seq V4, case, control surface, panels. I would avoid to set them to the trash.
The Switches are fine for me and I don’t need up to now the control surface.
Sure what you sell is really fine, but I want to use the hardware I already bought.
I was thinking to order from you:

1) PCB Core
2) SD PCB
3) MIDI 8 PCB
4) I2C PCB
5) Line TX PCB
6) Line RX PCB

Polykobol certainly, please feel free to build these boards!

Note that you will definitely also need a new STM32F4 microcontroller (make sure you get our MCU Core407V with 1MB flash with bootloader preinstalled), you’ll need headers for the microcontroller between wCore and MCU and you’ll need flashed I2C ICs for the I2C PCB to work.

You can then closely follow this first build tutorial, as you will be building the MIDIbox SEQ v4+ Core PCBs:

Important: if you don’t integrate the Core PCBs with the rest of the midiphy SEQ v4+ control surface, we really cannot help or support this build if something does not work as expected. This means, in the worst case you’d be stuck with a new set of PCBs and no working sequencer.

I’d again very strongly recommend to buy the essential kit with the new control surface parts, as it in my opinion just makes more sense.

Two microcontrollers???? one STM32F4 and one MCU Core 407V????
Why using two microcontroller, up to know we only used one…

You will need to use a microcontroller breakout board (–>Core 407V) that fits with the wCore PCB.
