Troubleshooting help - SW 13 (button 20) not working anymore

Hello community,

my Loopa worked for a while just fine, but since today button 20 seems dead (SW 13, the right-most matia switch on the bottom row for selecting the Track view). In Loopa test mode, neither a button press, nor release event is triggered, nor does the LED light up (none of the three colors). All other buttons and encoders produce events as expected.

I’m a software person, so not too versed in electronics, especially debugging. I’ll open the Loopa tomorrow, see if I can spot a flaw, but some help on which connections to check or resolder would be very appreciated.

Hi Sebastian,

Here is the wiring for that button:
Base JD2, pin 1 (the square one at the very south of the header)
Plate Con4 pin 1 as you might guess
RN3 pin 6 (pull-up; you should register ca. +5V when unpressed and 0V when pressed)
IC3 pin 3.

IC3 would be hard to get to if it needs rework on that pin. Hopefully just by touching up the headers and RN3 it works again. If you don’t see the switch changing voltage levels at the RN pin, maybe there is no connection through the headers. You should also be able to measure continuity to the Matias pad (the one sittingcloser to the LED body) from the RN.

I was able to repair it. It was the CC pin/pad on the LED/Matias which was not soldered properly. Noticed it while trying to measure the +5V, just touching that area suddenly made it work again.

Thanks Andy for the super quick response. Now I can claim my Loopa serial number 😉.
