Good morning everyone, just spend some time to dig throug the Mouser parts list and replace non stock parts, so ready to pull the trigger. To the friendly midiphy crew, could you give us an indicator when (days, weeks) we could expect the Seq kit being availalable again? Cheers! 😀

Welcome to the new forum and thanks for your interest in the SEQ v4+!

Both SEQ v4+ and LoopA kits are reordered and will be available again.
If you can submit the Mouser parts order, i’d recommend to do so, as some parts there are on backorder too and might take a few weeks to arrive.

My current guess on shop restock is something between 3 and 6 weeks from now, but there’s a bit of uncertainty when everything arrives.

Mouser is indicating that some parts for Loopa I ordered on April 20 will be available in June and July. Some I’ve managed to find at Newark (AKA Farnell in the UK), but I’m reserving judgment on that order due to mixed messages on delivery times, so don’t take that as a recommendation yet, just FYI.

I also had the issue with unavailable mouser parts, especially the 1k tht resistors (660-MF1/4DCT52R1001F) and the phone jack (490-SJ1-3535NG). For the resistor you can find a lot of alternatives both on mouser or reichelt if you are in germany. For the phone jack it’s a bit tricky but there are other colors available like this one in blue: https://www.mouser.de/ProductDetail/490-SJ1-3535NG-BE if you are fine with blue. Hope that helps!

Since this is all new to me, ordering many components, I didn’t realize about the color differences, and found the specified black phone jacks after much searching, and bought almost the last ones, which are now out of stock, here: https://www.onlinecomponents.com/en/keywordsearch?text=SJ1-3535NG though some of the other colors are still available. Now that I know, blue would have been totally fine, too. At the time, of the items Mouser showed as backordered, only the TI shift registers were listed as having a very long lead time, but then they came in stock a week later, so it’s all a bit unpredictable. Those resistors you mentioned were available at Newark. I’m still working up to knowing what would make a good alternative for specified parts, but hey, now we have a forum where these things can be discussed, which is great!

Here is a list of replacement components for the SEQ V4+ based on the current (early May 2021) Mouser BOM supplied by Midiphy. The following BOM components below are not available from Mouser currentlyx, so i have replaced them against a similar type (but other Manufacturer) or better quality (Automotive Grade, Gold contacts etc), or color (blue for the CV connector instead of black).
The only part not available at Mouser at all is the Bourns trimmer, which is available via Farnell though.

Thanks for the list! I get a lot of questions on parts replacements, so it would be great to share something publicly, maybe even in its own thread.

If by the Bourns trimmer you mean 652-3306F-1-103, well those are not needed for the SEQ as the OLED does not use a backlight or traditional contrast control.

How about creating a sticky in the SEQ v4+ subform with an updated BOM as often as required.
The components market situation right now is quite problematic as you know even with the open BOM stuff and “Hühnerfutter” there are quite some shortages right now which often requires to go for a broker instead of a line card supplier.

Hi everyone! And Hi Hawkeye! (it’s been years since we last talked on the Midibox Forum… (maybe 2015?))

I’ve been following the midiphy project since it started, and I received the full kit nearly a year ago. I finally have a little time to dive into that awesome project!

But I first have to get the additional components from Mouser, of course…

I have the Enhanced LH essential kit : the BOM is still the list SCR provided in May 2021? Or is there an updated version? (I’ve been looking around, couldn’t find it, it might be a good idea to put it in the front page on the Midiphy Seq v4+ page for slow brains like me! ;-) )

Welcome to the forums over here and nice that you have the time to start building the kit!

There was no parts or BOM update since last year, you’ll get the current BOM always on the product page, if you scroll down a bit:

Below the BOM listing is also a direct copy&paste list that allows direct importing of the parts into your mouser cart. The BOM is always the “master reference” - in the build videos there is also an Errata section in the Youtube text description - this corrects mistakes i made when filming the build a few years back 🙂.

Have lots of joy building and using your new SEQ v4+ - next upgrade is the MatriX then 🙂.

As another option, you could try
757-TBD62183AFWGEHZ

This has the same logic and footprint. The current per channel is lower, but probably enough for this matrix?

Or you could “dead bug” a TBD62381APG (DIP package).

Another alternative is 757-TBD62083AFGEL or 757-TBD62083AFWGEL , still out of stock for a few months though.

I’m trying to add the TBD62183 to my Mouser order (which is due to ship today so we’ll see how this goes…)
I’ve tried to get a TBD62381 from Alibaba, still waiting for an answer from the supplier.
I’ll tell you how all this goes!
