tested switches with mulimeter and they’re ok. all diodes and resnetworks are in the right direction, so that only leaves wonky IC connections, like with my LoopA. It was the start of my soldering journey, so that explains it😉

Jan Don’t rule out the possibility of ribbon cable problems - I had a few that didn’t crimp properly and gave insane effects!
I learned to check every one, end to end for continuity (my main problem) and shorting to neighboring pins.
(No, I didn’t have the Wirescanner kit 😅 )

Switches refer to the actual SW positions? Is it individual ones or blocks? The matrix setup will mean either a row of four or a column won’t light up or register DIN events

yes to the actual positions, top row being 1-8 and bottom 9-16

Right, so an issue with the individual elements or maybe a broken PCB trace, but that would be quite odd. Try first to reflow the pins in those areas.

Tested with a breadboard cable, its just bad soldering🙂 Easy to fix, so I guess Ill be applying for a serial number somewhere next week!

But now Im having issues with uploading the firmware, the displays show cryptic messages, so something is wrong…

After connecting to power instead of pc its asking for SD card, so I guess Ill have to check my sd card board🙄

after connecting only core, LH, RH, displays and JA board it boots normally. however then the buttons seem not to be assigned to their functions. At least there is progress

Typical issues with displays are:
Typical causes are:

Core J15_S jumper missing or wrong voltage (should be 3v3)
Core R33D wrong (should be 560R)
Poor cabling
Poor contacts of IDC female plugs into headers
Bare end of IDC cables touch each other or the OLED PCB
Insufficient USB power capacity

The displays work fine now, Ive read the post about the jumper and placed it. Im suspecting Ive used the Lh firmware for my Rh seq, which would cause the button issue. Since everything is tested seperately (except for the midi and serial boards, but they are pretty foolproof I think), It must be something silly😁

The firmware is the same for both but the LH/RH need different HWCFG files. Hope it works!

I just had to drop the RHCFG on the SDcard, problem solved. Everything seems to work as it should, thanks for helping out and see you on the next topic😁

Alas, still a minor SEQ4 issue, the 8th encoder is only giving out positive values in both directions. Would be great if someone can point me in the right direction 🙂 thanks!
