Long notes never end (except at loop/stop), length limit 1536?

I recorded some sustained pads.

They are correctly displayed in the grid, and they play correctly (note starts are OK), but they never end - sustaining until either the clip loops, or the track is stopped.

On reducing the lengths, they snap from the current value (eg 2923) immediately to 1536. It is then impossible to set a value higher that this - only 1536 or less.

Is this expected/correct?

thanks for the report!
It is correct that if the recorded note length is longer than the clip length, then these notes would be sustained until you mute the track, change the scene or stop the sequencer.

I’m currently working on v2.09 - the 1536 length limit is just an arbitrary editing limit (to avoid too large numbers in the editor), but that can be easily lifted, if it would be helpful?

Maybe the best code change would be that note lengths cannot be longer than their containing clip?

In this case, the sustained notes are not longer than the clip - they fit well within it.

Normally, recorded long notes that fit inside (an even longer) clip should definitely send the corresponding MIDI “Note Off” events.

If that is not the case, could you send me the affected session file via email to peter@midiphy.com so i could have a look and potentially bugfix this for the next release?

If it was a super long note pad recording (i.e. a minute or longer), i suspect potentially an integer overflow of the note length during recording.

Was this long pad recorded in autoloop mode or in normal recording mode?
