Jeff bricked his Loopa, by disconnecting USB, while Firmware was updateing via MIOS-Studio.

I already told him, that he have to unscrew the whole Device, and have to Jumper JPA0, in order to get into the bootloader mode. ( and asked him, if he is sure that he isnt already in bootloader mode > changed MIDI-Names in Miosstudio)

My Quest is: is it possible to upload the Bootloader or new Firmware via DIN-Midi?
Or better what are your thougts about this….

I got following messege from JEFF (US), since i want to avoid shipping - if there is no need…:

Well I think I broke my LoopA, right a
fter updating it to use it with the MatriX. I had literally updated the firmware to 1.09, and I accidentally clicked the button to run the update again as I was unplugging it from the USB port.

Now I cannot connect to the core with MIOS Studio, and the LoopA doesn’t boot. Is there a way to force it into bootloader mode, or did I just brick it?

i Answered him:
if it is in bootloader mode, then MIOS-Studio cant find any Midiports at first….

then you have to change the midiports in MIOS-Studio (Since they have changed from “LoopA” to “bootloader”) then re-upload the code again.

if you cant come in bootloader mode (and you are sure that you are not already anyway in bootloadmode) - then you have to open the LoopA and set a Jumper - that forces the Loopa in the Bootload mode.

The Jumper is called JPA0, and you could find its 2 Pins on the backside on the main pcb, so you dont have to unscrew the whole sandwitch. you have to bridge its 2 pins the wohle time you upload the code…. …

if that dont work you have to get 3.3V directly to the MCUs PA0 Pins…. and if that dont helps, the MCU has to be flashed with the bootloader again… but thats a other story…

i have made a video for those who are steady hanging in the bootloader mode…(Because the pins are floating),

this is not your CASE - you want to come into bootloader mode ! but it shows you where the jumper is, and how to open! (only set the jumper and reboot)

You have unscrew all CAse screws… you will not like that… so be sure, that you are not in bootload mode anyway!

It’s not in bootloader mode—MIOS studio doesn’t see anything and can’t communicate (after I did it once successfully).

I’m afraid what you are describing is beyond my skills. Can I pay you to fix it for me, with your usual costs?

hmm Yes of course, but all that shipping again… let me contact midiphy first, what they think… mike maybe its possible to upload new code via din-midi - in this case do you have a midi interface for your pc?
